Wealth is more than money, it’s lifestyle. If you can do whatever you want, whenever you want and not worry about the cost, you’re wealthy. Of course, money is a component of wealth and a tool to measure your net worth, but it is not wealth on its own.
My Wealth Conversation with the Cleaning Lady
I had an enlightening conversation one evening with a woman who owns a cleaning company. It was one of many conversations we had about money, life and aliens. This talk revolved around being a multi-millionaire. My side of the conversation focused on generating extreme wealth by helping people. It came from an adage that I learned back in my network marketing days.
“If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.”
I truly believe it. I love teaching people to better themselves, so helping people was a natural choice, but the bottom line always comes back to money. Until she asked me two simple questions that changed the way I look at life. She asked, “What would you do differently right now, if you had millions of dollars? What changes would you make?”
My response was simple. “I want a G6, a helicopter, my dream cars, a mansion, and a large yacht.”
“But how would it change your life?” she asked again. And answered with her own perspective. “I own a cleaning company, which gives me the freedom to get up in the morning and decide what I’m going to do that day. Yes, I’ll clean, which I completely enjoy, but I have the lifestyle I want. I have enough money to do whatever I want, travel wherever I want, and I have the time freedom to enjoy the things in life that are important to me.”
Although that may not be earth shattering, it made a huge impact on me and the way I looked at my life. Instead of being focused on money and things, I could see the value of focusing on lifestyle. And that’s what true wealth is…living the lifestyle you’ve always wanted. To get there, you’ll probably need money. Start here
